Hal Coopersmith, a third generation attorney, brings a myriad of professional experiences to Coopersmith and Coopersmith. Hal currently focuses his legal practice in commercial real estate transactions, residential purchases and sales, counseling start-up businesses, and wills and trusts.
Hal graduated from Brown University with honors in economics, writing his thesis “The Effects of the 2003 Smoking Ban on New York City Restaurants.” He graduated cum laude from Fordham University School of Law. While in law school, Hal made the Dean’s List, was an Associate Editor of Fordham’s Urban Law Journal, and received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award magna cum laude. In addition, Hal placed 1st in the American Bar Association’s Negotiation Competition in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Region and placed 4th in the American Bar Association’s National Negotiation Competition.
Prior to law school, Hal spent several years in the advertising industry, having risen to the position of Account Executive for GEICO and the History Channel. Before joining Coopersmith and Coopersmith, Hal honed his legal skills at McGuireWoods, the New York Legal Assistance Group as well as in the legal department of Channel 13/WNET.
Hal’s professional goal is to provide his clients with the best result for their individual situation and works diligently to ensure his clients’ exposure to risk is minimized.
From 2015 to 2019, Hal was named by SuperLawyers as a Rising Star for the New York Metro Area.
In his free time, Hal hosts the New York Launch Pod, a podcast featuring conversations with a diverse group of New York entrepreneurs, who share their experiences and insights building new businesses.
